Managing and Avoiding Overdrafts

We provide Standard Overdraft Courtesy to all qualifying checking accounts in good standing as part of our service, where we strive to pay items on your account when insufficient funds exist as part of our discretionary service.

“Qualifying checking accounts” means checking accounts for standard use and are not, for example, Trusts, IOLTA, minor accounts. “Good standing” means you are making regular deposits into the account and clearing up any overdraft balance in 20 days or less.

Standard Overdraft Courtesy covers checks, ACH and recurring debit card transactions (e.g., monthly utility payments). It does not apply to ATM or one-time debit card transactions (e.g. purchases in stores, in restaurants or online.) To have these covered, you must “opt-in” to “Overdraft Courtesy Plus.”

No interest is charged on any negative balance in your account. However, the bank’s Overdraft Paid Item Fee of $33 is charged to your account for items that overdraw your account more than $5, and up to six items per day.

If you desire, you can choose to designate that all items, presented when insufficient funds exist, will be returned and the $33 Returned Item Fee will still apply.
